Scanimation is a nostalgic optical trick.
The illusion of movement is created when a semi-transparent overlay is moved over a still image consisting of sliced up separated lines of a given number of frames.

Make your own Scanimation image by downloading the template PSD file and using the pre-built, masked layers to handle the "slicing" of your images. Once you are done, sync your new image onto your iPhone/iPod and follow the "Upload" link from within the Scanimation application.
